PUBG HDR Ultra 4K 60FPS Test | PhoenixOS DarkMatter | Intel i9 9900K UHD 630 | GFX Tool Settings

Hi.

Following on from my last DM-PUBG without any game audio, here's another one explaining the setup and with the audio from the game captured via an analogue interface, not HDMI.

I'd really appreciate any guidance on how to fix the HDMI audio issue I'm having. Here's the YouTube blurb followed by the video.

The video is best watched in 4K if you've got the bandwidth.

This is a bit of a walk through to see how well PUBG Mobile is working with an Intel i9 9900K CPU that has a UHD Graphics 630 iGPU or integrated GPU graphics card processor. This is using Android via Phoenix OS Dark Matter.

Although the system is not completely stable due to certain incompatibility issues between the version of the Android/Linux Kernel and MESA combination, which manifests itself as a whole bunch of mess with the UI and certain core functions. The actual game play rendering is awesome, with an almost constant 60FPS even with an internal render of 2560x1440 which is then output at 1080.

In this setup I've not done anything special. I've not altered Dark Matter from its most basic install and initial optimisation routine before trying the various kernel and MESA versions. I've not done any special CPU or GPU tuning and I've not used any fake GPU or Spoof GPU commands with GL Tools. GLTools was only used to give me the frame rate counter.

I will however try doing some optimisation on one of my lower powered PC systems. I have an Intel NUC5i5RYH which has a HD 6000 iGPU in it, this iGPU is also very suited to Dark Matter and is totally stable. I also have a couple of Atom based devices to test as well. I'll post some results once I'm happy with the setups. Once I've got this system a bit more stable I'll be doing a whole bunch of stuff with Dark Matter with PUBG and COD Call Of Duty Mobile.

A quick note about Dark Matter. I've been gaming on Android X86 for a good few years now, striving to get the best Android gaming setup possible. As far as I'n concerned, Dark Matter is by far the best and easiest to modify Android X86 OS variation I've used. From here on in, until Phoenix OS develops further, I'll be concentrating on Dark Matter as it's allowing me to get closer to the Perfect Android Gaming System and is well worth my investment of time.

I'll also do a video soon giving my opinion between Supreme Gamers' Dark Matter and Woltrex's ROC modifications of Phoenix OS. SPOILER ALERT, Dark Matter absolutely sh1ts all over ROC :)

Hi ! Dave,
Thanks for the video, quality is really amazing & yes i've watched in 4k, i do feel that the video was a bit longer but i was just happy to see your enthusiasm toward our Mod.
i've few points for you about the PUBG & that GFX Tool :-

1. Vulkan API is supported in Darkmatter New Kernels & Mesa you can check your version by downloading this app from playstore.
2. Vulkan support over android x86 is still poor & unstable they call them experimental builds that ship with vulkan api support.
3. Anti aliasing on android x86 is not needed since rendering graphics are pretty good & enabling anti aliasing might result in bad or graphics glitches in the game.
4. Best map to know you graphics quality is SanHok in PUBG because it has good amount of grass & shadows that will also help you to see the color difference in Grass & Objects when you change your mesa versions or if you use Loltrex ROC builds.
5. Higher the mesa version the better graphics quality you'll get out of your system but they might also bring some glitches but most of the time it's worth the trade.
6. You can reduce you Gamerhelper keymapping opacity to 0 by clicking that blue eyes on top of screen & without them in between you can enjoy the game better.
7. If you play Call of Duty mobile then it has joystick support by default and you can turn off gamerhelper in that game.

that's all from me & i'm looking forward to your next video ?
thanks.

Hi Night.

Thanks for your input. The reason for the video being so long is because I was explaining many things that most people either don't explain properly or even know. Certain things, especially technical explanation, need proper description.

On my main YouTube channel I do a lot of videos about audio and video stuff, microphones, cameras etc. I do a lot of explaining in those videos, again, simply because most things need explaining properly in order for those watching to understand what's going on.

Many people make YouTube videos and don't explain certain technical stuff because they don't have enough knowledge or experience. Many people watching YouTube videos don't pick up certain key points because many of those doing the videos simply don't know what they are doing.

Plus. Other than straight game play or simple examples, I never do YouTube videos for people who just want quick throw away 'air head' content :)

As for your points, here's some response.

1. Vulkan API is supported in Darkmatter New Kernels & Mesa you can check your version by downloading this app from playstore.

Like I said in the video, Vulkan or OpenGL wont make a difference in DM on my main system as the processing power is more than enough. OpenGL can work at the software/CPU level or hardware/GPU level. I think on this system that is what's happening, it's OpenGL in software and because it's a powerful processor, it just works well. Or, it could be the UHD630 doing it. In any event and as I shown in the video, Vulcan and OpenGL make no difference on this system, neither does hardware acceleration. In any combination, I'm always getting 60FPS with the settings maxed out.

2. Vulkan support over android x86 is still poor & unstable they call them experimental builds that ship with vulkan api support.

Yes, I've noticed this. Some of my other less powerful systems are Vulkan capable but I never get it to work with their iGPUs. Saying that, I've only ever tried with some of that BS that Loltrex has put out as supposed Vulkan support for certain ROC builds.

3. Anti aliasing on android x86 is not needed since rendering graphics are pretty good & enabling anti aliasing might result in bad or graphics glitches in the game.

Actually, that's not correct. As I said in the video, AA simply doesn't work in X86, that's why it looks bad. It's not that you don't need it because X86 is 'pretty good', you simply have no option to use it anyway.

Like I said in the video. I think the AA element is expecting a certain process that's available on ARM and not X86, I think that's why it doesn't work. It's not necessarily a difference between Android and Android X86 itself. Maybe if there are specific ARM bridging functions, that could get around certain translations?

With AA switched on the game graphics definitely benefit and look smoother. This is something that I'll show soon in a video comparing PUBG on DM and on Android. Basically, ARM vs X86 and specific GPU functionality.

4. Best map to know you graphics quality is SanHok in PUBG because it has good amount of grass & shadows that will also help you to see the color difference in Grass & Objects when you change your mesa versions or if you use Loltrex ROC builds.

Yes, the best test is any scene with a lot of models, shaders, textures, resolution etc and a lot of play movement. On my main system, it will always do 60FPS maxed out on any map and scene in PUBG. There's sometimes a slight drop to 59 but I think this maybe texture loading. There's also sometimes a slight drop when jumping out the airplane but again I think this could be a loading thing because of the massive field of view when being high up, I did mention this in the video.

As for Loltrex and ROC. They served a purpose for about 5 minutes but since finding Supreme Gamers and Dark Matter I doubt I'll ever use ROC again. I'll be doing a video soon about the differences and why I'll be warning people off Loltrex and ROC. To get those ROC downloads, Loltrex is/are getting worse and worse taking the piss with all those pop ups, some are nasty executables.

We all rely on add income but Loltrex takes it to a whole new level. To get at those ROC files there are even reCAPTCHAs that have hotlinks on the verification tabs that take you to dodgy Russian sites. I'm sure that's not allowed with reCAPTCHA

5. Higher the mesa version the better graphics quality you'll get out of your system but they might also bring some glitches but most of the time it's worth the trade.

Yes, it basically gets better with later versions but it's still always a case of 'suck it and see'.

6. You can reduce you Gamerhelper keymapping opacity to 0 by clicking that blue eyes on top of screen & without them in between you can enjoy the game better.

Yes, I'm very familiar with game helper I've been using it for some time. Like I said in the video, becuase I'm constantly changing resolution and settings while testing, I can't have one consistent key map setup setup until I've finalised my system and overlays. That's why there was a lot of mouse movement and no transparency.

7. If you play Call of Duty mobile then it has joystick support by default and you can turn off gamerhelper in that game.

Yes, I'm familiar with COD and its native joystick support, it works amazingly well on my phone. Strange thing is that I disable ROC in game helper and can't get COD to see my controller, as it does in Android on ARM.

Are you saying to completely disable game helper and not just the app in game helper?

Thanks again for your input.

If you, AXON or anyone involved in DM would like me test anything or test any new DM/kernel/Mesa variations, just give me a shout. I'm on your Discord server as DEVO.

Cheers,
Dave.
